underwater

jackson returned from the beach without his fear of going underwater. he now spends most of bathtime with his head submerged. he loves how surprised it makes me. i love how his hair looks like liquid.

the abc's

we are in the alphabet stage now. jackson loves to sing the alphabet song and find letters everywhere. he can only identify a few correctly, but he's so excited to KNOW when he's located an actual letter. he's loves to feel the raised letters on the civil war signs by our house. we spent about 20 minutes scouring a sign for letters he knows. i've always loved "the written word" and i couldn't be more delighted that he's taking an early interest in it!

jackson and his best friend maya love to chase each other, screaming at the top of their lungs. it's the cutest thing. i don't know if this video can convey the hilarity.

matchbox cars and coloring

jackson's favorite things to do these days are color and play with cars.
he is truly obsessed with matchbox cars. we build ramps with the blocks jason made and we do car stunts and crashes. he's quite good at all the crash and vroom noises. he likes to tell me the colors of the cars, and to match ones with the same colors and shout "MATCH"!
lately he likes to scribble with crayons and nibble crackers at the table by the window. sometimes he'll call a "tweet" to the birds outside. this is his quiet time.

camping at satya village

We took Jack on his first camping trip to Dunlap, Tennessee. We stayed with our friends the Harlans and the Hughes in their sustainable living project called the Satya Village. Jack was so excited to meet goats and chickens and to throw rocks in the creek. He was in motion constantly until we went to sleep in the tent. Even then he had a hard time sleeping. In the morning he was ready to explore it all again. Seeing the excitement and wonder on his face was priceless.

papaw & mimi visit!

papaw and mimi have been gone for a couple weeks but here are a few pictures from their fun trip to chattanooga. they played with jackson while i had to work. they had fun drawing on the magnadoodle, they picked strawberries at Crabtree Farms, and they ate together a lot. jackson must have said "papaw" and "mimi" a hundred times while they were here!

finley's birthday party

yesterday jackson went to his friend finley's birthday party. he had a great time splashing in the kiddie pool. the highlight for me was when jackson gave finley a sweet birthday kiss. they both leaned in and carefully pressed their little lips together. it was adorable. i wish i had a photo of that moment.
